NS-LS Meet October 3rd

Well, the Sox beat the Angels last night in the first game of the playoffs, 4-0.

Anyway....LS came loaded for bear yesterday, and were pretty impressive. Their depth on the girls' side is unbelievable, and their boys had a very strong performance. LS won on the girls' side 25-36, and on the boys 20-35.

It was a relatively hot and muggy day at Cold Springs Park. Our snack entourage is without a doubt the best in the DCL! Many thanks. Spectators were treated to coach Ted riding my bike ahead of the runners to clear the way. Many parents from both schools were present.

The girls' varsity race was out very fast, and the pack maintained it for the entire race. Kelsy Karys and Madeleine Reed ran an amazing performance, Kelsy ran just a shade faster than the course record, set by Emily Johnson in 2000, I believe. Kelsey ran a 15:49, and the old record was 15:50. Madeleine was just a a second slower than the course record. What hurt us on the girls' side was large group of LS runners coming in after Madeleine in spots 3-10. LS has huge depth - e.g. one of their top runners, Molly Binder, sat out the race. Sorry the results below are incomplete - I'm trying to get full results. The top LS girls' runner, Andrea Keklak, is a freshman.

The times are unblievable - for comparison's sake, last year, the winning time was 16:27 by Jamieson of LS. She ran 10 seconds faster than last year, and came in fourth this year. No one should feel bad about their performance, it was an unbelievably fast race.

Boys LS 20 NS 35

Some of you probably recall last year, when LS also took the dual meet, the boys came back in the DCL championships to take LS.

In addition to the impressive runs by Kelsy and Madeleine, the boys JV swept LS in slots 1-7. So, onward!

Next up is the Concord-Carlisle and Westford meet, at Westford.

Go Lions!
