From Steven,

There will be a JV track meet against Newton North at Newton North this Wednesday at the rec. complex at the top of the stairs on the South wing @ 4:00.

We do not get buses to Newton destinations so we will need volunteer drivers to meet in back of the field house at 2:50.

This has been announced at team meetings.

Red Auerbach Freshman-Sophomore meet 4 Jan. 2009

from John Huth:

The Freshman-Sophomore meets are a great chance for the underclassmen to compete at a high level where they sometimes don't get a chance to shine in other large meets. Full results can be found at:
http://www.coolrunning.com/results/09/ma/Jan4_25thAn_set1.shtml
This is a huge meet, with 40 teams competing and a huge number competitors in any given event - e.g. the mile topped out at nearly 100 runners (not all in one heat, mind you).

Some noteworthy NS performances
Dan Connolly advanced to the semi's in the 55m hurdles. Andrea Braver took 9th in the 300. Kathy O'Keefe took first in the 1000m!!
Frosh Anna Laurence took 7th in the 2 mile, and Nicole Kestenberg took 7th in the high jump. Chloe Milliman took 3rd in the long jump. Jeff Alkins took 6th in the long jump.
Also - a lot of people were out for the holiday break, and there's some nasty flu-like bugs going around, so this is by no means representative of the depth of the 9th and 10th graders. Congratulations to all!
Go Lions!
