The MIAA eastern division 1 State Championships were held today at Franklin Park. The girls took 1st in division 1 with a score of 29 points, incredibly low for this meet. Lincoln-Sudbury was 2nd with 35 points. NS averaged 18:44 on the relatively slow soggy course. Haverill was 3rd with 90 points, Billerica 4th with 149 and Chelmsford 5th with 203 points. NS and LS took 10 of the top 15 places.

There were 192 finishers in this race and these are the largest schools and the best 7 from each school.

With wild kicks Madeleine Reed and Andrea Keklak passed Kelsey Karys with Keklak inching ahead of Reed.

The boys without Andrew Wortham and John Beck still took 3rd place advancing to the all state championship next week. The boys did not have their best day but were still close to winner St. John's Prep 91, and Methuen 110, NS 130. Newton North had a very good day taking 4th 187 and will also advance.
The boys race was won by Phil Galebach of Medford who fell with about 600 meters to go but got up and passed Omar Aden of Boston.
