This 1st "slow" heat had runners with qualifying times of between about 10:02 and 10:08. Higgins, seed 2 this heat, bib 343, ran 9:32, much faster than any in the "fast" 2nd heat by braking away pretty early and running on his own. Cameron and James had solid runs in the heat.
