Boston Parks gave the word at noon that the start field was too wet and that the start had to be moved. The start was at the edge of the soccer markings cutting off maybe 150 meters. This shouldn't have been a problem since XC starts in a wide line across the whole field. The start field is one place where the turf is usually not damaged in XC because the runners are dispersed over a large area. Also, XC spikes are thin and the runners don't change direction as in soccer or football. A very wet field is completely not an issue for XC runners. It is part of the sport.
OK, got that out of the way. It was a beautiful sunny day in the mid 40s. The course probably ran slow because of wetness.
AB boys edged LS. AB boys had 3 freshmen in on the varsity team. This bodes well for them. CC took 3rd. NS boys varsity had 5 sophomores, 1 junior and 1 senior on their team for 4th. LS had half the freshman race field. There should be some good competition in coming years.
Weston girls continued their strong season solidly beating LS at 2nd and NS at 3rd. Weston is a much smaller school than NS or LS so this win is unusual.
