DCL double dual meet; NS & Waltham & Boston Latin

The next DCL double dual meet is tomorrow, Wednesday, at Boston Latin's home course at Franklin Park at 4 pm.
High school cross county meets have been held here since at least the 1930s and other meets back to 1914. I ran there at the state XC championships for Newton South in 1965 and 1966. The course has changed over the years being rebuilt in 1991. Major national and international meets have been held at this venue including the IAAF world cross country championships in 1992. Franklin Park along with Van Cortland park in NY are probably the best and best known courses in the country. The course is great for spectators  with three major loops. Watch the start from the hill by the baseball diamond, the 1 mile marker, 2 mile marker, 2.8± and the finish with a very short walk between.
A map of the course:
http://www.usatfne.org/cross/i/franklin_pk5.gif
Google earth coordinates:
starting line: 42° 18' 28.00" N, 71° 05' 35.14" W
finish line: 42° 18' 24.60" N, 71° 05' 40.17" W
You can paste the coordinates into Google maps (or Google earth)
Parking for this small meet should be open on Pierpont Road right next to the start and finish lines. For large meets this area is closed off.
I can't be there tomorrow. Hopefully someone else can take photos. Get the start with the whole pack coming up the hill across the field.

Double Dual Meet v Weston and Tyngsboro

Newton South ran against Weston and Tyngsboro today on a hot and humid day. Weston looked very good beating both boys and girls varsity teams. Tyngsboro still has a ways to go to catch other DCL teams.
Kathy O'Keefe was 2nd to a very fast Weston soph. David Melly ran away from everyone on this new course of about 2.8 miles.
I don't have official results for girls JV yet.  For both boys and girls varsity the score was Weston 23, NS 32. Tyngsboro was shut out by both Weston and NS.
The JV boys looked very strong for NS. Get a few more of them with racing shoes and get outa the way.
